Baby’s First Puppy-Themed Birthday Party

Time flies when you’re busy chasing your little busy-body around the house. I can’t believe my baby girl is almost one! This weekend we threw a birthday bash for Ayla. When deciding on a theme, it was pretty easy—her favourite “person” in the world is our dog Kacie (although unfortunately, I don’t think Kacie feels the same way about Ayla).

What is a party without some decorations? I was able to find most of what I needed from the Dollar store. I started by making a banner out of scrapbooking paper (check out the birthday banner instructions here).

5 Ways to Recycle Your Old Jeans

We all have that pair of jeans sitting in our closet collecting dust. You’ve either lost/gained weight, regretted your purchase immediately after you came home, or have loved/worn those jeans to death. Whatever your reason for not wearing them anymore, here are five ideas of what you can do with your old jeans instead of chucking them.

How to Make a Whimsical Wreath

Since the spring weather has been so nice lately, I’ve been taking a lot more walks around my neighbourhood. Aside from enjoying the fresh air and budding trees, I’ve been enjoying all of the pretty wreaths hanging from people’s doors. I started getting WREATH ENVY.

Ever since I was a little girl, I always pictured my home to have a porch swing, a window seat and a welcoming wreath. While I don’t have a window seat, I do have a porch (but no swing-yet), and I was determined to get my wreath, dammit! I previously purchased an autumn/winter wreath but couldn’t find a spring/summer wreath that suited my fancy. So I decided to make my dream wreath.

How to Make a Cute Keepsake Ornament

Commemorate your child’s hand or foot prints (or your pet’s paws) with this fun and easy play dough craft. While some people only display ornaments at Christmas, I keep these cute keepsakes out all year round. These make great gifts for grandma and grandpa!

How to Make an Intestine Wreath

Move aside jack o lanterns and cotton spider webs! If you want your house to display an original decoration this Halloween, try making an intestine wreath. My husband was inspired by a posting on BoingBoing which described how to use your standard “crack filler goop” to make realistic intestines rupturing from a dummy. We decided to skip the dummy and make a wreath complete with eyeballs purchased from any Halloween aisle. This project is definitely messy. (Note to self – next time, remember to wear rubber gloves when using the crack filler! That stuff stayed on for days.)
