Theresa
Theresa was born and raised in Canada. Being a shy, timid little Chinese girl amongst mostly white kids, Theresa often felt like the odd person out, the unmatched sock. She grew up in a multi-generational household which included her paternal great-grandmother, paternal grandmother, mom, dad and older brother.
Today she embodies a quirky mix of Asian and Canadian cultures; it’s not unusual for her to use a Canadian saying like, “eh?” in the same sentence as a Chinese saying like, “Ai-yah!” Her experiences growing up with Asian immigrant parents has provided her with plenty of stories which she feels many can relate to.
Like many parents, Theresa’s wanted her to grow up to be a doctor (like her dad), or a lawyer, or something that makes lots of money. Unfortunately, she was not very good at science or math, nor did she possess a photographic memory to excel in these areas. Instead she gravitated towards the arts and took some art/design courses in university; however she eventually earned a business degree with a major in marketing (because this is the next best thing if you are not to be a lawyer or doctor).
After university, Theresa did the coming-of-age Europe trip by herself. She soon found herself working at a software company doing marketing (even though she confesses to know very little about computers). This is where she met Josh, her former boss, and now husband/best friend/matching sock. They have a beautiful baby girl named Ayla (pronounced like Kayla without the “K”).
Theresa’s first love of art and all things creative propelled her to start LuvBuv. A few of Theresa’s favorite things include: reading, art, travel, tea & coffee, sushi, nature, grilled cheese sandwiches, live music, positive people, honesty, finding good shopping deals, and lazy Sundays.
LuvBuv
The name LuvBuv is one of the many nicknames Theresa’s husband calls her (insert blushing face here). She decided to create a blog which allows her to do two of her favorite things—write and connect with people.
With LuvBuv, Theresa’s goal is to write a variety of entertaining, insightful and personal articles that people can relate to because so much of life is spent trying to reach out to people. In first grade all we want is to make one good friend. In high school we hope to find a group that we belong to. In our twenty’s we put ourselves through humiliating first dates in order to find “the one.” For those who are lucky to find “the one” we try to hold onto them while maintaining relationships with friends and family. And for those who haven’t found that special person, the search continues.
Theresa hopes that the articles on LuvBuv provide comfort and enjoyment to readers while we all experience this weird and wonderful thing called life.
