As I was organizing my daughter’s room the other day (her closet is crammed already – how did a baby acquire so much stuff in a few months?) I came across the overwhelming pile of gifts that people sent when she was born. While I’m thankful for every single gift, the homemade ones are the ones I will remember the most.
Months later I am still touched that somebody thought of us and took the time to make something from scratch. The so-called imperfections found in homemade crafts only add character to them.
Here are a couple of crocheted goodies we received:
So here’s in praise of all things homemade.
Homemade gifts say: I was thinking about you. I like you. You are worth my time.
In today’s mass-produced, cookie-cutter world, lovingly hand-crafted things are like a splash of colour on a dreary backdrop. They are like sangria to summer—not necessary but absolutely refreshing.
