Summer is the time to kick back, relax and enjoy a few simple pleasures in life. When was the last time you looked at the clouds, felt the warm sun on your face and daydreamed? Here are a few fun things to do this summer without breaking your wallet.

- Have a picnic and blow bubbles. Not much beats the combination of being outdoors, yummy food, and the ultimate simple summer pleasure – blowing bubbles.
- Slip ‘n Slide. Wham-O has been making the original Slip n’ Slide since 1961. Today there are fancier options like the Slip n’ Slide Jungle Rumble and the Hydroplane Double. Nothing makes you feel like a kid again like throwing yourself with reckless abandon onto a slippery, wet surface and screaming like a banshee.
- Forget about the hassles of hosting a dinner party. Instead, have a potluck with friends and dine al fresco.
- Check out free local summer events and festivals in your city.
- To save on camp site fees, camp out in your backyard and watch the stars. (Bonus: you can run inside to use a real potty.)
- Have a bonfire. No summer is complete without roasted weenies, s’mores, and scary/stupid campfire stories.
- Make sangria.
- Relax on a hammock, daydream, read a book, and take a snooze.
- Get movies/books/music from the library.
- Scour yard sales for awesome deals.
- Get some exercise by going for a bike ride (or hike). Reward yourself by getting a slush afterward.
- Go to the beach, people-watch, and read trashy magazines.
