Our home is full of printed materials: books, magazines, newspapers, you name it. It’s not uncommon to find paper randomly scattered across the coffee table. The other day when I was making a sandwich for lunch, I heard a commotion in the living room.
I stole a quick peek and saw a feeding frenzy on the floor. A crazy Paper Monster was devouring yesterday’s news while excitedly kicking its legs.
After trying most of the morning to reach for anything made of paper, eight-month old Ayla finally pulled a newspaper off the coffee table and had her lunch.
I turn my back for a second and this is what happens. I’m still getting used to the fact that I have to keep a more careful eye on my increasingly mobile baby. When she was a newborn, I couldn’t wait for her to start moving. Now that she’s almost “crawling” (her tummy drags on the floor as she moves like a seal), I miss the good ol’ days when she would stay put.
Oh well, maybe her interest in paper means she’ll be an early reader!
