While the mere mention of the word jeggings brings about snickers and eye-rolling (who comes up with these silly fashion-industry names?), its rising popularity is undeniable. Hate the name, love the product. Jeggings are essentially part jeans, part leggings. With stitching and details to look like denim jeans, jeggings have the comfort and fit of sturdy leggings. I picked up a pair while I was in Korea last year, and have been living in them ever since.

Every wondered how your neighbourhood ranks in terms of walkability? Go to Walk Score, type in your address and see your grade. Sadly my home gets a poor walk score of 28 out of 100 which means I am car-dependent. The only place I can easily walk to is a convenience store.
Unfortunately the city I live in is a shining example of urban sprawl—it has expanded outwards rather than upwards encouraging car dependency. Luckily the public transportation in my neighbourhood is decent with the addition of a new bus station and light rail transit system which can get you downtown in 20 minutes.
Before I was married and had a baby, I lived and worked downtown. My little shoebox of a condo got a walk score of 75 out of 100. How I miss being able to walk down the street to get a coffee, go shopping and eat at a restaurant! But with 450 sq. ft. of living space, it was barely big enough to fit me and all my stuff let alone a husband, baby and puppy.

Last week I took Ayla to one of those sing-along/nursery rhyme groups for babies. It happened to take place at a senior’s residence and moms, babies, and seniors all had a good time together. After the session, a kind old lady came up to me and said, “Now who does this little sweetheart belong to?”
“Oh…she’s

We all have that pair of jeans sitting in our closet collecting dust. You’ve either lost/gained weight, regretted your purchase immediately after you came home, or have loved/worn those jeans to death. Whatever your reason for not wearing them anymore, here are five ideas of what you can do with your old jeans instead of chucking them.

Since the spring weather has been so nice lately, I’ve been taking a lot more walks around my neighbourhood. Aside from enjoying the fresh air and budding trees, I’ve been enjoying all of the pretty wreaths hanging from people’s doors. I started getting WREATH ENVY.
Ever since I was a little girl, I always pictured my home to have a porch swing, a window seat and a welcoming wreath. While I don’t have a window seat, I do have a porch (but no swing-yet), and I was determined to get my wreath, dammit! I previously purchased an autumn/winter wreath but couldn’t find a spring/summer wreath that suited my fancy. So I decided to make my dream wreath.

The classic story book Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak is one of my favourite children’s books of all time. I haven’t yet watched the movie, but plan to soon. While out shopping at Urban Outfitters the other day I stumbled upon a great find: a Wild Thing shadow puppet!
ROAR!!!
I haven’t been

I live in your average middle-class neighbourhood where people take care of their lawns and most people on my street have 1.5 kids and a puppy. Most people are pretty friendly and say “hello” when they pass by—everybody except my neighbours that is.

Our home is full of printed materials: books, magazines, newspapers, you name it. It’s not uncommon to find paper randomly scattered across the coffee table. The other day when I was making a sandwich for lunch, I heard a commotion in the living room.
I stole a quick peek and saw a feeding frenzy on the floor. A crazy Paper Monster was devouring yesterday’s news while excitedly kicking its legs.

There are two types of mothers: those who have been “mothers” all their lives (the type that rescues kittens and takes friends under her wing), and the type that slowly become a mother by necessity. I fall under the latter category. My daughter’s diaper was the very first diaper I’ve ever changed.
