Yes, we all have some annoying habits or traits that will eventually drive our partners a little crazy. Mouth-breathers, chain smokers, and habitually latecomers aside, there are some characteristics in a partner that could potentially spell real trouble for you and your relationship.
In my post Five Characteristics to Avoid in a Partner on HealthyPlace.com, I talk about these warning signs. Here is an excerpt:
When looking for a partner we often bring a list of requirements or “wants” such as: must be faithful, must have stable employment, or must love dogs. Once you’ve found someone who catches your attention and meets your list of requirements, you begin the first wonderful lovey-dovey stage in a romantic relationship where you can’t get enough of each other and where your partner can do no wrong. It’s only when the love dust settles that you begin to see clearly and notice some of the more undesirable characteristics in him.

Now that autumn is just around the corner, I always get a bit sad that our short-lived summer months are coming to an end. Who doesn’t like summer? Summer means vacations, beaches, trashy magazines, ice cream, hot dogs, summer flings, and lots of get-togethers with family and friends.
Here are five ways you can incorporate summer into your life year-round:
Bring a little bit of the outdoors inside. There’s nothing like freshly cut flowers, and lots of potted plants indoors to remind you of the lush green summer months. If you are a lazy gardener like me, buy a cactus.

Once a woman reaches a certain age, she often is no longer just a daughter, sister, or a friend; she also becomes a working woman, a wife, a mother, an appointment-keeper, a chauffeur, and inevitably, a master juggler. Finding the time during a workday to do everything that needs to get done can be a

Time flies when you’re busy chasing your little busy-body around the house. I can’t believe my baby girl is almost one! This weekend we threw a birthday bash for Ayla. When deciding on a theme, it was pretty easy—her favourite “person” in the world is our dog Kacie (although unfortunately, I don’t think Kacie feels the same way about Ayla).
What is a party without some decorations? I was able to find most of what I needed from the Dollar store. I started by making a banner out of scrapbooking paper (check out the birthday banner instructions here).

Oscar Wilde once said, “A true friend stabs you in the front.” This quote rings true as a real friend isn’t afraid to put you in your place when you are out of line or tell you the brutal, honest truth even when it hurts. So what about those so-called friends that stab you in

While vacationing in San Francisco recently, my husband and I spent a relaxing afternoon walking along a quiet beach and exploring a cave. While we enjoyed our little picnic, we noticed three giddy teenage girls giggling, running around, and splashing in the water—seemingly without a care in the world. We envied their youthfulness, their energy, and their care-free attitudes. In comparison, we felt…old.

My husband surprised me the other day with a pair of retro white paper 3D glasses of our childhood which he purchased on eBay. Since then I’ve been Googling Red-Cyan 3D images (or anaglyphs if you want to be technical). My eyeballs are about ready to ooze from their sockets now, so I guess that’s enough 3D images for today.

As a general rule of thumb, being a good secret-keeper is often touted as an appealing characteristic. However this rule doesn’t apply if the person you are keeping the secret from is your boyfriend or girlfriend and the secret has the potential to send shockwaves through your relationship.
In my post Things to Disclose in a

The idea of mind-control to manipulate electronics is no longer some futuristic fantasy. InteraXon is a Canadian-based software company that has developed a system which allows you to control electronic devices by simply focusing your thoughts.
This innovative technology made a huge splash during the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics when visitors at its pavilion strapped on headsets, and used their minds to control lighting displays across the country in Niagara Falls, the CN Tower in Toronto, and government buildings in Ontario.
According to InteraXon’s website, we generate brainwaves that can be detected by Electroencephalograph (EEG)—with practice we can control our overall activity pattern. The headsets translate our brainwaves into signals that a computer can understand, and therefore we can control virtually all electronics, hands-free.

Boredom is all too often seen in a negative light—if you are bored, people assume that you are not working very hard. As adults, we are expected to fill our days with work and rarely have enough time to actually become bored. If we have any kind of down-time, we often feel guilty for
